IFF: Gallows Point Resort

Pleasant Evening Loved Ones,

I am stoked to share this week’s Island Feature Friday with you as it involves an incredible staycation that DJ and I enjoyed this “weekend” (any combination of two consecutive days off in the hospitality industry). So here’s the background story: DJ and I attended our company holiday party in January (read about it HERE). There we won a two night stay a Gallows Point Resort in St. John which could be redeemed after July 1. After several weeks of attempting to catch up on rest from our trip back home to Louisiana, 3 weeks of work schedules that didn’t line up, 2 mission teams and the projects we worked on with them, and most importantly, our 7 year anniversary (June 21) which was a little overshadowed by the busyness, we decided it was time to cash in on our prize. And I am so glad to share that it EXCEEDED our expectations in all ways. (In the interest of keeping the feature on Gallows, I’ll just say you can flip through my stellar story on our little trip right here!)

Gallows Point Resort

Prior to this trip, anytime someone asked me where they should stay in St. John, I would always say Caneel Bay or The Westin. Honestly these were the only two places I was semi-familiar with. After this trip (and with full disclosure, I’ve never STAYED at either of those resorts), I would 100% recommend Gallows Point first. Our experience from start to finish was phenomenal!

The resort offers scheduled pick up from the ferry terminal, and the bellman Giddeon is such a friendly gentleman. The resort is located right next to Cruz Bay, so the shuttle ride is quick, and all the restaurants and shops are easily within walking distance if you prefer not to taxi during your stay. The front desk agent was warm and friendly, and our arrival packet included coupons for the on-site restaurant as well as information about the resort including services offered by their market and activity’s staff, WiFi connection info, and a little print out about the resort cat, Ellington.

We had a Harbor View Upper unit which is a loft-style villa with one bedroom, full living room, kitchen, two bathrooms, and an incredible view of Cruz Bay. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and modern touches in the villa. Two nights was not enough!

The bathroom (my favorite!)
Even the products were cute!
The amazing balcony!

Gallows Point has a pool, hot tub, sun deck, and beach area with a floating deck in the Caribbean (and nothing was crowded!) Hammocks are scattered throughout the resort as well inviting you to just relax. The snorkeling was also pretty impressive, especially for a resort area.

We thoroughly enjoyed the pool
and the hot tub

This hammock was all like, “hey you, come & sit”
“check out this view”
& I was all like “don’t mind if I do”

Ocean 362 was quite pricey, but the views were spectacular! The Johnny Cake Sliders and Johnny Cake Beignet were so worth the price!

On check-out day, we were not ready to go home, so the front desk stored our bags while we played for a few more hours. Whether you live on island and just need a little break to remind you why you’re here in paradise or are stateside drooling over tropical pics and praying for a vacation, Gallows Point is the perfect getaway spot in St. John!

We love you Gallows!

Thanks for stopping in on our staycation! See y’all soon 🙂
