Greetings loved ones,
It’s another installment of Island Feature Friday! Once again, we are still covering my mom’s latest visit with us just about a month ago. Mom’s last Friday on island, we treated her to a massage which I learned was her first one ever! You can definitely anticipate an IFF on the spa we used. DJ and I both worked while mom was being pampered, and we finished the day with an incredible dinner at one of my favorite fine dining spots on St. Thomas, Banana Tree Grille.
We were first introduced to this restaurant because they hosted a menu sampling for the front desk department at the Cove when DJ was working as a bellman. I was, of course, super jealous as he raved about how delicious everything was. So naturally being the wonderful husband that he is, he made a reservation there for my first birthday on island. If the view wasn’t enough to take my breath away, they also seated us at the best table in the house and decorated our table with birthday confetti. Needless to say, I have a soft spot for this restaurant!
The restaurant is located at Bluebeard’s Castle Resort, and as you can see, it overlooks Charlotte Amalie Harbor which provides a stunning view at night. Better yet, you can catch the sunset along with their sunset specials from 5-7 pm. It’s sister restaurant is Room-with-a-View which shares the incredible view, and I hear also has an incredible menu. Stay tuned for that visit because it’s on our list. Bluebeard’s features a converted Dutch ruin outside the lobby which resembles Blackbeard’s Castle. It’s just a lovely photo spot for your night of fine dining.
If you eat one thing on this island, you would be wise to make it the “Oh My” GORGONZOLA LOAF” from Banana Tree. It. is. to. DIE. for. Add a daily house-made ravioli, delicious steaks, and incredible deserts, and you will be ashamed if you missed this spot while on de rock.
It is also worth stopping in on a Friday or Saturday night. During mom’s trip we were able to catch Dennis Frett on piano which added delightful ambiance and good times as the entire restaurant joined in on “Sweet Caroline”.
